UPVC Replacement Door Handles
As time passes, the handles on your doors will wear out and require replacement. When doing this it is essential that the new handles conform to the exact dimensions of the previous handle.
The three measurements to be inspected are the top screw's location, lever and key hole sizes. Refer to the size guide for help with this.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever handle is a modern door handle designed to suit new or replacement doors. This style of handle is available in a variety of designs and finishes. This handle is offered by several manufacturers, including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

The uPVC/Composite handles are made of tough materials and are perfect for doors with multiple points that require a robust design. The handles are inline and operate from the same spindle and screw fixings so they can be easily fitted to new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.
The sprung lever design allows the handle to be set and angled to ensure a comfortable experience and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200 000 cycles. This ensures that the quality of finish and performance will last for a long time. The lever that springs is adjustable to accommodate a wide range of locks. This is particularly beneficial in doors with smaller door frames where the cylinder is further back. A shortened lever is also an excellent option for doors that have latches that can be operated by a thumb turn on the inside.
Lever Pad
The lever pad upvc handle is distinct from the lever handles that are used on the majority of doors. These handle types can either operate from a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are commonly used on UPVC doors with double glazing. They are available in a variety of finishes & variations.
The handles are available in various finishes, including White Chrome and Gold. The finish is in line with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, giving the handle a high level of durability and performance for its intended use.
All UPVC handle lever pads come with a spindle, screws, and can be fitted on a uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixing centres allow for a larger handle, which can often be a benefit when replacing a damaged or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. These levers for handles are also spring-loaded, which solves the issue of handles that slide out of the horizontal position when they are not being used.
When choosing the replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is essential to match the dimensions of the PZ on the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement may also be called 'handle centre or cylinder centres'. It is important to match the correct handles.
Once you have the correct PZ size, you'll need to ensure that the lever pads and push pads are a suitable shape for the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) approved handles you require for your doors. These are typically square or round with an internal lever, and an external push pad.
The majority of UPVC lever pads we sell are sprung, meaning that they will return to their horizontal position when not being used, instead of hanging out and potentially sticking in the frame. This stops draughts and cold air from getting into a house. Also, the majority of the UPVC handle lever pad style handles are hand-operated which allows you to place them on either side of the door.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other types of doors. They operate by using a key that unlock a cylinder that is then revealed with pins that can be aligned with the pins inside the lock body, allow them to rotate an revolving cam, opening the door. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with external and internal doors generally requiring different levels of security.
The choice of cylinder you choose is essential. It is based on the use that your doors and handles receive. For instance, exterior doors require a more secure cylinder whilst internal doors can be secured using a standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders have extra features that can improve security even more, like anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.
To ensure that the euro cylinder is the right size for your door, it must be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to the other end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. It is best to do this with the lock in place however when this isn't feasible, you can take it off and take it off to measure. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon may be vulnerable to attacks, such as snapping locks, therefore it is essential that it is not too long.
Most newer cylinders have been made with anti-drill and bump resistance features built into their design. They are designed to minimize attacks by forcing cylinders to rotate in a different direction. This will help to prevent attacks and keep your doors safe.
Some cylinders are designed to withstand snapping. This is a growing method of attack on cylinders where the break line inside the lock is targeted using a special tool to snap off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to be opened. This is a much faster and more convenient method of gaining access than the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the break-in which can make it difficult to prove insurance claims.
Spring Cassette
This spring cassette is located inside the base plate of your door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their resting position after using. Previously a lot of handles of this kind did not have a spring integrated into them, and without it they can droop or 'drop' once the locking mechanism has been disengaged. This component is the most effective way to address this issue. It also helps prevent your upvc door from becoming stuck in the closed or open position as they aren't easy to close manually.
